For so long, I said, "Oh, family photos aren't really my thing." I would do them sometimes, for money, but my heart wasn't really in it. Lately, however, I've been inspired by some family photos I've seen on Instagram, as well as Claude Monet. "Claude Monet, WHAT?" He painted his wife and son, and I love his style.
I had actually posted an ad on Facebook looking for a couple to shoot, but a young mom reached out offering to model with her husband and young son. I decided to take the leap and try to make some artistic family photos. And you know what? I think I did a pretty good job. I realized that family photos don't have to be bland, boring, and cookie cutter. I can use movement and emotion to create art. Below are some of the photos from my shoot. Of course, I took some just Mom and Dad, too.
